A Himalayan Salt Detox also known as Sole (pronounced Solay) is one of the most simple ways to detox.

We always hear that salt is very bad for us. Well, if you're talking about common table salt that's true. Common table salt is really sodium chloride, an unnatural chemical which is a poison and a cheap way to flavor foods and preserve them. There are usually other chemicals, also poisons, added to it so it is easier to pour.

It remains in our body's joints and vessels and causes many problems such as gout, arthritis, rheumatism, kidney and gallstones. If used in excess, it can raise blood pressure and cause heart problems.


Himalayan salt, on the other hand, is a 100% natural salt found only in Himalayan region in Pakistan. Known as the Salt Range,it is a huge mountain approximately 700 miles long consisting only of salt. The salt here is filled with minerals and trace minerals and is so pure you can eat it straight from the mountain. Himalaya is a place where one of the longest lived people in the world reside.

Dr. Barbara Hendel, a holistic health care provider who has been practicing for over 20 years, uses Himalayan salt in her program for health, wellness and beauty with excellent results. In addition to drinking a solution of it to detox, she recommends it for use in body scrubs, baths, as well as wraps and poultices.

What's the difference between Himalayan Salt and common table salt?

Common salts have to be refined because they contain clay and stones, etc. They are heated to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit changing the structure and leaving only 2 elements which are the sodium and chloride mentioned above, which are poisons.

What about Sea Salt?

Even sea salt, taken from oceans has to be refined because of all the pollutants in our seas and oceans today.

How to Make Himalayan Salt Detox or Sole

  • Place Himalayan salt about 1 inch deep or a few Himalayan salt stones in a glass jar.

  • Add 2 to 3 inches of natural spring water (I have used pure filtered water) to cover the salt or stones

  • Let salt dissolve for 24 hours.

  • The water should be saturated after approximately 24 hours. If the salt is totally dissolved, then add more salt.
If you put enough salt or salt stones in the mixture, some should be remaining on the bottom.

You now have what is call "Sole".

How do you take it?

  • Mix 1 teaspoon, use either a glass, porcelain or wooden spoon)NOT A METAL ONE. Add to 8 oz. of water.

  • Drink first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

This solution, because of the crystalline structure of the salt, has a vibrational energy. This vibrational energy stays in your body for 24 hours.

Keep a lid on the jar so water doesn't evaporate. Salt is a natural preservative, so the sole will not go bad.
