Raw Blended Soups and Green Smoothies

Curried Red Pepper Soup (from "Dining in The Raw" by Rita Romano
4 red peppers
1/2 cup tahini
juice of 1 small lemon
2 cloves garlic
1 1/2 tsp. curry
Braggs amino to taste (can be bought at local health food store)
Blend all ingredients except scallions. Add enough water to make a smooth soup consistency. Add less water for a delicious salad dressing. Chill and garnish with scallions.
Tomato-Avocado Chowder (from "Recipes for Longer Life" by Ann Wigmore)
3 medium tomatoes
1/2 cup grated carrots
1/2 cup grated celery
1/2 cup grated cabbage
1 whole avocado, diced
1 small onion, chopped
1 small bell pepper
Blend tomatoes and avocado. Add in remaining ingredients and blend very briefly to keep the thick, chowdery consistency. Serves 4-6.
Island Fantasy Soup ( from "The Life Food Recipe Book" by Annie and David Jubb)
1/2 cup burdock root,finely chopped
1 large avocado
1 cup arugula, finely chopped
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 cups fresh coconut milk or almond milk
2 tablespoons miso
Blend avocado, burdock and arugula in bender. Add milk and miso. Remove from blender and stir in lemon juice. Serve warm. Serves 2
Dr. Oz's Green Smoothie Breakfast Drink
Dr. Mehmet Oz starts his day with this green smoothie for breakfast. He said it's high in fiber, low-calorie and rich in vitamins.
2 cups spinach
2 cups cucumber
1 head of celery
1/2 inch or teaspoon ginger root
1 bunch parsley
Juice of 1 lime
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Combine all ingredients in a blender. This makes approximately 28-30 ounces, or 3-4 servings.
